Regular Season Round 16: Ternopil-TNEU - Zaporizhye 97-84

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Zaporizhye's (7-8) road loss to fifth ranked Ternopil-TNEU (9-6) 84-97. The game was mostly controlled by Ternopil-TNEU. Zaporizhye was better in fourth quarter 32-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ternopil-TNEU dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Zaporizhye's 30 and made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Zaporizhye 37-26 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ternopil-TNEU players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by American point guard Adrian Bowie (189-89, college: Maryland) who scored that evening 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Nigerian forward Avery Ugba (203-94, college: Austin Peay) supported him with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Four Ternopil-TNEU players scored in double figures. Even 19 points by American guard Josh Fortune (196-94, college: Colorado) did not help to save the game for Zaporizhye. His fellow American import point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: LBSU, agency: Players Group) added 12 points and 7 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ternopil-TNEU have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Ternopil-TNEU maintains fifth position with 9-6 record. Zaporizhye at the other side keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. Ternopil-TNEU's next round opponent will be Budivelnyk (#7) in Kyiv.
