Very predictable result when second ranked Crailsheim Merlins (11-2) defeated at home 13th ranked Bayreuth (4-9) 82-77. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Crailsheim Merlins players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Canadian guard Trae Bell-Haynes (188-95, college: Vermont) who helped to win the game recording 10 points and 8 assists. American forward Jeremy Jones (201-96, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Crailsheim Merlins' coach Tuomas Iisalo allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American center Derek Pardon (203-96, college: Northwestern) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and Lithuanian Osvaldas Olisevicius (200-93) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Bayreuth. Four Crailsheim Merlins and five Bayreuth players scored in double figures. Crailsheim Merlins maintains second place with 11-2 record behind leader Ludwigsburg, which they share with Oldenburg. Bayreuth lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourteenth position with nine games lost. Crailsheim Merlins' next round opponent will be Telekom Baskets (#15) in Bonn which should be an easy win for them. Bayreuth will play at home against Bayern Muenchen and hope to win that game.
