Bottom-ranked Rasta Vechta managed to get the second consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they won against seventeenth-ranked 46ers 97-84. And what about a second win in a row after ...eleven consecutive losses. Rasta Vechta made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Belgian Jean Salumu (193-90) stepped up and scored 26 points for the winners and American center Dennis Clifford (213-92, college: Boston Coll.) chipped in 10 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side American guard Jonathan Stark (184-95, college: Murray St., agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import swingman Brandon Thomas (198-84, college: UMass) scored 19 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rasta Vechta (2-11) moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Giessen. 46ers lost third consecutive game. Rasta Vechta is looking forward to face higher ranked BG Goettingen (#16) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. 46ers will play against EWE Baskets having rather not much hope for a victory.
