No shocking result in a game in Izmit where fifth ranked Kagitspor (9-5) defeated 11th ranked Ankara Basket (6-8) 89-81 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kagitspor made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American point guard Keshun Sherrill (175-94, college: Augusta) who scored 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import center Horace Spencer (206-97, college: Auburn) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Kagitspor players scored in double figures. Kagitspor's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Kutay Akpulat (198-97) who recorded 37 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Ali Kavaklioglu (186-86) added 5 points, 5 rebounds and 16 assists respectively. Kagitspor moved-up to third place. Ankara Basket at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the thirteenth position with eight games lost.
