Regular Season Round 9: Emlak Konut - Bursa 68-86

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Emlak Konut (7-1) in Istanbul on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Bursa (9-0) 86-68. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Emlak Konut. Bursa made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Emlak Konut 39-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. Bursa looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Emlak Konut helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American center Sasha Goodlett (195-90, college: Georgia Tech) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Rabia Celebi (167-85) contributed with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. Four Bursa players scored in double figures. Ukrainian center Olena Staschuk (192-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and Nihal Gungor (-90) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Emlak Konut. Bursa have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-0 record. Emlak Konut at the other side keeps the third position with one game lost. They share it with Edremit. Bursa are looking forward to face Botas (#12) in Ankara in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Emlak Konut will play on the road against Mersin Univ. (#11) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
