Regular Season Round 9: Botas - Yalova Vip 73-82

Very expected game when 12th ranked Botas (2-6) lost to eighth ranked Yalova Vip (4-5) in Ankara 73-82 on Sunday. Yalova Vip looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for the former international center Melike Yalcinkaya (189-93) who led her team to a victory with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Ebru Torun (175-87) contributed with 15 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four Yalova Vip players scored in double figures. American center Tearra Banks (188-95, college: Austin Peay) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and Hatice Gulcelik (178-2) added 13 points, 7 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Botas. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Yalova Vip moved-up to seventh place. Loser Botas keeps the twelfth position with six games lost. Yalova Vip will face higher ranked Edremit (#4) in Balikesir in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Botas will play on the road against the league's leader Bursa (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
