Regular Season Round 16: Heidelberg - Bayer Giants 103-75

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (6-2) smashed at home one of their biggest challengers Bayer Giants (7-6) 103-75 on Sunday. MLP Academics Heidelberg shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 57.7 percentage. American point guard Saeed Nelson (188-98, college: American) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. American Jordan Geist (188-97, college: Missouri, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Five MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. Naturalized Croatian center Marko Bacak (210-95) produced 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and center Dennis Heinzmann (216-91) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Bayer Giants' coach Hansi Gnad gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to sixth place. Loser Bayer Giants dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will face Phoenix Hagen (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bayer Giants will play against Gladiators (#10) and hope to win that game.
