Regular Season Round 18: Cherkasy - Khimik 79-77

A very interesting game took place in Cherkasy. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Khimik (10-6) to eleventh ranked Cherkasy (4-13) 79-77 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Khimik. Khimik was ahead by 8 points after three quarters before a 25-15 charge of Cherkasy, which allowed them to win the game. They made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Khimik helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was forward Dion Wright (201-93, college: St.Bonaventure) who scored 24 points. Guard Cameron Jones (193-89, college: NAU) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Cherkasy players scored in double figures. Cherkasy's coach Maksym Mikhelson allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Tyrell Nelson (201-95, college: Gardner-Webb) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and forward Lewis Sullivan (201-95, college: UAB) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Cherkasy moved-up to tenth place. Khimik at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost.
