An interesting game took place in Izmir where higher ranked Urla (5-4) was upset on its own court by ninth ranked Karsiyaka (4-5) 64-52 on Tuesday. Karsiyaka forced 21 Urla turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American power forward Kristina King (190-95, college: WVU) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Forward Belgin Onbasi (177-82) chipped in 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Marie Benson (185-97, college: UT Arlington) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and center Basak Altunbey (189-96) added 5 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Urla's coach Hakan Yigit rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Karsiyaka moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Cesme. Loser Urla keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Karsiyaka will meet at home Duzce Bld (#10) in the next round. Urla will play against Fenerbahce G. (#11) in Istanbul and hope to secure a win.
