Regular Season Round 15: Bochum - Wedel 109-92

Everything went according to plan when first ranked SparkassenStars (10-3) defeated 11th ranked Rist Wedel (4-11) in Bochum 109-92 on Wednesday. SparkassenStars looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 23 passes made by Rist Wedel's players. It was a good game for point guard Niklas Geske (188-94) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 12 assists and 5 steals (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Johannes Joos (206-95) contributed with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Tucker Haymond (198-94, college: W.Michigan) answered with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized Nigerian Osaro Rich (190-98) added 26 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Rist Wedel. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SparkassenStars maintains first place in North with 10-3 record. Loser Rist Wedel keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. SparkassenStars will face again Rist Wedel (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
