Regular Season Round 11: Karsiyaka - Duzce Bld 60-62

A very close game took place in Izmir between Duzce Bld and Karsiyaka. Eleventh ranked Duzce Bld (4-6) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Karsiyaka (4-6). Duzce Bld managed to escape with a 2-point win 62-60 in the game for the seventh place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Karsiyaka. It was a great evening for American forward Lydia Rivers (188, college: Virginia Tech) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 22 rebounds. Guard Cansu Cankurt (170-90) helped adding 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. American power forward Kristina King (190-95, college: WVU) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and forward Belgin Onbasi (177-82) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Duzce Bld. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Karsiyaka. Duzce Bld will meet at home Fenerbahce G. (#8) in the next round. Karsiyaka will play against Istanbul Univ. and hope to secure a win.
