Regular Season Round 19: Tofas - Afyon 83-85

The most exciting game of round 19 in the BSL took place in Bursa. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Tofas (9-8) to eighth ranked Afyon Bld (10-9) 85-83 in the game for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Tofas. Afyon Bld looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American point guard Chris Wright (185-89, college: Georgetown) fired 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The former international center Egemen Guven (210-96) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Four Afyon Bld players scored in double figures. American guard Semaj Christon (190-92, college: Xavier) produced 20 points and 4 assists and British-American guard Tarik Phillip (191-93, college: WVU) added 11 points respectively for lost side. Tofas' coach Hakan Demir rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Afyon Bld have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Tofas at the other side dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Darussafaka. Afyon Bld are looking forward to face Dacka (#7) in Istanbul in the next round. Tofas will play on the road against the league's second-placed Pinar Karsiyaka and is hoping to win this game.
