Regular Season Round 19: Zaporizhye - K.Sokoly 81-75
Date: January 24, 2021
Very expected game in Zaporozhye where 10th ranked K.Sokoly (4-12) was defeated by sixth ranked Zaporizhye (10-8) 81-75 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. K.Sokoly trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 22-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 75-81 at the end of the game. Zaporizhye made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. American point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: LBSU, agency: Players Group) fired 20 points for the winners. His fellow American import guard Josh Fortune (196-94, college: Colorado) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Fortune is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Zaporizhye players scored in double figures. American guard Brandon Boggs (198-92, college: WCU, agency: Mansfield and Associates) produced 16 points and 7 rebounds and center Igor Chumakov (208-90, agency: BIG) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. K.Sokoly's coach Oleg Manoylenko rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Zaporizhye have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 10-8 record. K.Sokoly lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 12 games lost. Zaporizhye are looking forward to face Cherkasy (#9) at home in the next round. K.Sokoly will play against Mykolaiv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
