Regular Season Round 15: Coburg - Giessen 2 93-85

Fourth defeat of league's leader Giessen 2 (9-4) against second ranked Coburg (10-5) 93-85 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Giessen 2. It was a key game for the top position in South. Coburg shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for naturalized Croatian Mateo Seric (204-99) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Elias Baggette (181-2) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. The former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds and Tim Uhlemann (203-99) added 22 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Giessen 2. Five Coburg and four Giessen 2 players scored in double figures. Giessen 2's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Coburg have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of South leader, which they share with Ulm. Giessen 2 at the other side dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Bochum. Giessen 2 will play next round against strong Titans trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Coburg will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Muenchen 2 on the road.
