Regular Season Round 18: Nevezis - Neptunas 79-76

Important game to mention about took place in Kedainiai. Sixth ranked Nevezis (6-12) saved a 3-point victory at home edging their close opponent Neptunas (6-12) 79-76 in the fight for the seventh place. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Neptunas won second period 14-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Togolese-German center Ariel Hukporti (214-2) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and Greek swingman Panagiotis Kalaitzakis (197-99) supported him with 13 points and 6 assists. Four Nevezis players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 9 rebounds by swingman Matas Jogela (201-98) did not help to save the game for Neptunas. Forward Dziugas Slavinskas (203-98, agency: BIG) added 13 points and 9 rebounds. Neptunas' coach Tomas Gaidamavicius tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Despite that victory Nevezis went down to seventh position due to points difference, which they share with defeated Neptunas. Nevezis will play against league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Neptunas will play at home against P.Zvaigzdes (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
