Regular Season Round 12: Urla - Cesme 82-74

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Izmir: Urla (#5) and Cesme (#6). Urla (6-5) won against visiting Cesme (5-6) 82-74. They outrebounded Cesme 48-28 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Marie Benson (185-97, college: UT Arlington) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Yagmur Tasar (173-99) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Gizem Kumandanoglu (-94) replied with 20 points, 7 assists and 4 steals and added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Cesme. Four Urla and five Cesme players scored in double figures. Urla maintains fifth position with 6-5 record. Cesme at the other side keeps the sixth place with six games lost. They share the position with Yalova Vip and Fenerbahce G.. Urla are looking forward to face league's second-placed Emlak Konut in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cesme will play at home against Duzce Bld (#10) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
