Very important is a road loss of second ranked Kirchheim Knights (9-8) against seventh ranked Artland Dragons (8-5) on Saturday night. Visiting Kirchheim Knights were crushed by Artland Dragons in Quakenbrueck 107-70. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Kirchheim Knights. Artland Dragons made 32-of-38 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Artland Dragons had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Kirchheim Knights' players. Kirchheim Knights were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Robert Oehle (209-88) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) to lead the charge for the winners and American Gerel Simmons (188-93, college: LMU, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 16 points and 7 assists during the contest. Four Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Nico Brauner (187-94, college: St.Mary's) with 24 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Croatian point guard Karlo Miksic (193-97) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Artland Dragons moved-up to sixth place. Kirchheim Knights at the other side dropped to the third position with eight games lost. Artland Dragons will play against Phoenix Hagen (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kirchheim Knights will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
