The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Schwenningen's (8-6) road victory over 9th ranked Gladiators (7-9) in Trier 77-65 on Saturday. Schwenningen forced 20 Gladiators turnovers. Strangely Gladiators outrebounded Schwenningen 40-23 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Courtney Stockard (196-95, college: St.Bonaventure) notched 19 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import point guard Nate Britt (185-94, college: UNC) supported him with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Schwenningen's coach Alen Velcic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 11 points and 5 rebounds by American Chase Adams (176-88, college: Pittsburgh) did not help to save the game for Gladiators. Point guard Rupert Hennen (184-97) added 10 points and 7 rebounds. Schwenningen moved-up to seventh place. Loser Gladiators dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Schwenningen will meet at home bottom-ranked Nuernberg (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gladiators will play against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#5) and hope to secure a win.
