Regular Season Round 20: Ternopil-TNEU - Odessa 95-85
Date: January 30, 2021
Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Odessa (6-13) lost on the road to fourth ranked Ternopil-TNEU (12-6) 95-85 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-85. The winners were led by American guard Omar Calhoun (198-93, college: UConn, agency: Players Group) who scored that evening 21 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and the other American import point guard Adrian Bowie (189-89, college: Maryland, agency: BIG) supported him with 22 points. Ternopil-TNEU's coach Dmitry Zabirchenko used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 25 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) by guard Yuri Kondrakov (191-96, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Odessa. American forward Rhamel Brown (201-92, college: Manhattan) added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ternopil-TNEU have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Loser Odessa keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Ternopil-TNEU will meet K.Sokoly (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Odessa will have a break next round.
