Rather predictable result when twelfth ranked Lions (6-8) won against on the road bottom-ranked Nuernberg (2-8) 80-71 on Saturday. They outrebounded Nuernberg 39-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. Center Maurice Pluskota (209-92) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and Czech center Adam Pechacek (206-95) supported him with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Even 10 points and 9 assists by Hungarian point guard Marcell Pongo (194-97, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Nuernberg. American guard Tra Holder (185-95, college: ASU, agency: Wasserman) added 16 points. Five Lions and four Nuernberg players scored in double figures. Nuernberg's coach Ralph Junge rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Lions moved-up to eleventh place. Nuernberg lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. Lions will meet at home higher ranked Uni Baskets (#9) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Nuernberg will play against Schwenningen (#7) and hope to secure a win.
