Rather expected game when 7th ranked Bayer Giants (8-7) lost on the road to fourth ranked Science City Jena (9-3) 104-99 on Sunday. Science City Jena made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Julius Wolf (203-93) notched 30 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Marcus Tyus (185-94, college: Omaha) supported him with 25 points. Science City Jena's coach Frank Menz used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 21 points and 4 assists by American Grant Dressler (201-97, college: Chaminade) did not help to save the game for Bayer Giants. Naturalized Croatian center Marko Bacak (210-95) added 15 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Science City Jena moved-up to second place. Loser Bayer Giants dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. Science City Jena will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bayer Giants will play against the league's leader Rostock (#1) and hope to secure a win.
