Leader Zalgiris delivered the fourteenth victory. This time they crushed 8th ranked Nevezis (6-14) 78-47 in Kedainiai. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Nevezis to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Zalgiris dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 18. Zalgiris forced 20 Nevezis turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Nevezis' players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Augustine Rubit (203-89, college: USA, agency: Wasserman) who helped to win the game recording 9 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center Martinas Geben (208-94, college: Notre Dame) contributed with 9 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Zalgiris' coach Martin Schiller felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Sedrick Barefield (188-96, college: Utah, agency: Wasserman) answered with 15 points and Togolese-German center Ariel Hukporti (214-2) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Nevezis. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-2 record. Nevezis lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 14 games lost. Zalgiris will play against P.Zvaigzdes (#5) in Pasvalys in the next round. Nevezis will play on the road against the league's second-placed Rytas in Vilnius and hopes to get back on the winning track.
