Regular Season Round 19: Karlsruhe PS - Paderborn 83-74

There was a minor upset in Karlsruhe where 9th ranked Uni Baskets (7-9) were defeated by eleventh ranked Lions (7-8) 83-74. Lions players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a very good performance for Czech center Adam Pechacek (206-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. Center Maurice Pluskota (209-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Drew Cushingberry (191-96, college: Ferris St.) answered with 21 points and 4 assists and the other American import center Barret Benson (208, college: SIU) added 9 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Uni Baskets. Uni Baskets' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lions moved-up to tenth place. Uni Baskets at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Lions' next round opponent will be higher ranked Artland Dragons (#4) in Quakenbrueck and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Uni Baskets will play at home against Bayer Giants (#6) and hope to win that game.
