Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Giessen 2 (11-5) outscored at home 11th ranked Speyer (3-8) 96-76 on Wednesday. Giessen 2 dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Speyer's 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Tim Uhlemann (203-99) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Darian Cardenas (199-95) responded with 21 points and 6 assists and Eric Curth (193-92) scored 20 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Giessen 2 moved-up to third place in South. Loser Speyer keeps the eleventh position with eight games lost. Giessen 2 will face Erfurt (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Speyer will play against OrangeAcademy and hope to win that game.
