The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Samsun as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Akhisar Bld) loss. Samsun edged second-ranked Kagitspor at home 74-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kagitspor. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Samsun had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. American-Brazilian center Tim Soares (211-97, college: Master's) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side and Tayfun Erulku (192-94) accounted for 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Keshun Sherrill (175-94, college: Augusta) came up with 31 points and the other American import center Horace Spencer (206-97, college: Auburn) added 4 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Kagitspor in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Akhisar Bld. Kagitspor at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Manisa. Kagitspor will play next round against Final Spor trying to get back on the winning streak. Samsun will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Balikesir on the road.
