Very important is a road loss of third ranked Bornova Bld (10-7) against fourteenth ranked Final Spor (6-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Bornova Bld was defeated by Final Spor in Bursa 83-72. Final Spor forced 19 Bornova Bld turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Final Spor looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Onur Sonsirma (190-85) who scored 18 points and 9 assists. Swingman Gokturk Ural (196-95) chipped in 13 points and 8 assists. American point guard Carlos Medlock (183-87, college: EMU) produced 16 points, 7 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Canadian forward Kalif Young (206-97, college: Providence) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Final Spor and four Bornova Bld players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Final Spor moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Ankara Basket. Bornova Bld lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Balikesir. Final Spor will meet higher ranked Kagitspor (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bornova Bld will play against Istanbul and hope to secure a win.
