A very close game took place in Quakenbrueck between Lions and Artland Dragons. Tenth ranked Lions (8-8) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Artland Dragons (9-6). Lions managed to escape with a 2-point win 91-89 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Artland Dragons. Lions made 28-of-31 free shots (90.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Czech center Adam Pechacek (206-95) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and naturalized American Daniel Norl (191-95, college: Omaha) who added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Lions players scored in double figures. American center Quadir Welton (203-95, college: St.Peter's) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import Gerel Simmons (188-93, college: LMU) scored 21 points and 5 assists. Artland Dragons' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lions have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place. Loser Artland Dragons dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Lions will meet at home Gladiators (#11) in the next round. Artland Dragons will play against Ehingen/Urspringschule (#13) and hope to secure a win.
