There was a small surprise in Istanbul where fourteenth ranked Acibadem (7-13) defeated 12th ranked Buyukcekmece (7-13) 83-74 on Saturday. Acibadem dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Buyukcekmece's 26. They outrebounded Buyukcekmece 45-34 including 19 on the offensive glass. Serbian center Vladimir Stimac (210-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and American guard Shannon Evans-II (185-94, college: ASU) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was British center Gabriel Olaseni (211-91, college: Iowa) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and American swingman Osiris Eldridge (191-88, college: Illinois St.) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Acibadem and four Buyukcekmece players scored in double figures. Acibadem moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Buyukcekmece. Buyukcekmece lost their sixth game in a row. Acibadem will face higher ranked Afyon Bld (#6) in Afyonkarahisar in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
