Leader Zalgiris recorded the fourteenth victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed 8th ranked Nevezis (6-14) 108-53 in Kedainiai. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Nevezis to just 7 points in first quarter. Zalgiris dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 22. Zalgiris had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Nevezis' players. It was a great evening for American forward Nigel Hayes (203-94, college: Wisconsin) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 5 rebounds. International center Marek Blazevic (209-1) helped adding 14 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side forward Julius Kazakauskas (196-90) responded with 9 points and 12 rebounds and American power forward EJ Montgomery (208-99, college: Kentucky, agency: Wasserman) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-2 record. Nevezis lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 14 games lost. Zalgiris will meet at home P.Zvaigzdes (#5) in the next round. Nevezis will play against the league's second-placed Rytas in Vilnius and hope to secure a win.
