Very expected game when 13th ranked Ankara Basket (6-10) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Balikesir (10-7) 103-75. Balikesir dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Ankara Basket's 32. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Ankara Basket's players. The former international point guard Ibrahim Yildirim (190-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international forward Izzet Turkyilmaz (212-90) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. Five Balikesir players scored in double figures. Swingman Kutay Akpulat (198-97) answered with 16 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Jahmal McMurray (183-97, college: SMU) added 18 points in the effort for Ankara Basket. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Balikesir moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Bornova. Ankara Basket lost third consecutive game. Ankara Basket at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth position with ten games lost. Balikesir's next round opponent will be league's leader Samsun at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ankara Basket will play against Yalova (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
