Regular Season Round 15: Akademik PL 2 - Beroe-2 60-90

Rather predictable result in Plovdiv where third ranked Beroe-2 (4-2) smashed bottom-ranked Akademik PL 2 (0-6) 90-60 on Sunday. Beroe-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Akademik PL 2's 24. Beroe-2 forced 21 Akademik PL 2 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Akademik PL 2's players. Akademik PL 2 was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Damyan Minkov (197-2) who led his team to a victory scoring 29 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Petar Toyaganov (183-2) helped adding 25 points and 4 assists. Four Beroe-2 players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was naturalized Greek point guard Ioannis Kikrilis (183-4) with 21 points and 9 rebounds and guard Krastomir Mihov (188-4) scored 11 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Beroe-2 maintains third place with 4-2 record having seventeen points less than leader Showtime. Akademik PL 2 lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Beroe-2 will face league's leader Slow & Furious in Pleven in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Akademik PL 2 will play on the road against Chardafon (#4) in Gabrovo and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
