Regular Season Round 39: Palanga - Vytis 93-92

The most exciting game of round 39 in the NKL took place in Palanga. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Vytis (18-6) to seventh ranked Palanga (15-11) 93-92 on Thursday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Vytis. Palanga looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. 29 personal fouls committed by Vytis helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Laurynas Mikalauskas (205-85, college: Virginia) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Mantvydas Staniulis (186-97) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Five Palanga players scored in double figures. The former international center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Sarunas Vingelis (196-89) added 21 points in the effort for Vytis. Palanga have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 15-11 record. Vytis at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Palanga are looking forward to face Vilkaviskis (#9) on the road in the next round. Vytis will play against Ezerunas (#10) in Moletai and is hoping to win this game.
