Regular Season Round 23: Cherkasy - Ternopil-TNEU 86-68

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Ternopil-TNEU (14-9) against eighth ranked Cherkasy (7-15) on Friday night. Visiting Ternopil-TNEU was defeated by Cherkasy in Cherkasy 86-68. The game was mostly controlled by Cherkasy. Ternopil-TNEU was better in third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cherkasy dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Ternopil-TNEU's 34. They outrebounded Ternopil-TNEU 44-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. Cherkasy players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American guard Cameron Jones (193-89, college: NAU, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Dion Wright (201-93, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: BIG) helped adding 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international Andriy Agafonov (208-86) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Adrian Bowie (189-89, college: Maryland, agency: BIG) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cherkasy maintains eighth place with 7-15 record. Newly promoted Ternopil-TNEU dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost.
