Regular Season Round 15: Yalova Vip - Mersin Univ. 62-59

A very interesting game took place in Yalova. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Mersin Univ. (6-8) to ninth ranked Yalova Vip (7-7) 62-59 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mersin Univ.. The best player for the winners was American-Lebanese center Chanita Jordan (196-87, college: Bowie St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds. Swingman Rana Derin (175-92) chipped in 11 points. Yalova Vip's coach Abdulgani Basman used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Caliya Robinson (190-97, college: Georgia) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international Fahriye Bayraktar (185-95) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Yalova Vip moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Urla and Cesme. Mersin Univ. at the other side dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Yalova Vip's next round opponent will be higher ranked Antalya 07 (#3) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mersin Univ. will play against the league's leader Bursa (#1) and hope to win that game.
