The game in Izmir supposed to be also quite interesting. 6th ranked Fenerbahce G. (6-8) played at the court of eighth ranked Cesme (7-7). Cesme smashed Fenerbahce G. 95-61 on Saturday. Cesme made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Cesme outrebounded Fenerbahce G. 44-33 including 35 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Gizem Kumandanoglu (-94) who led the winners with a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals. accounted for 24 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winning side. Four Cesme players scored in double figures. Swingman Merve Ari (180-98) came up with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and American center Shelby Cheslek (196-92, college: Gonzaga) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Fenerbahce G. in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cesme moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Urla and Yalova Vip. Loser Fenerbahce G. dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Mersin Univ. and Duzce Bld. Cesme will meet Istanbul Univ. (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fenerbahce G.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Emlak Konut.
