Regular Season Round 11: Rivne - Dynamo-NPU 93-54

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Dynamo-NPU (12-8) against seventh ranked Rivne (6-14) on Sunday night. Visiting Dynamo-NPU was crushed by Rivne in Rivne 93-54. The game was mostly controlled by Rivne. Dynamo-NPU managed to win third quarter 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Dynamo-NPU to just 6 points in first quarter. Rivne dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Dynamo-NPU's 28. Rivne forced 19 Dynamo-NPU turnovers and outrebounded them 43-24 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Viktoria Shmatova (172-87, agency: BIG) who scored 35 points (!!!), 5 assists and 4 steals. Forward Anastasiia Kucheronok (175-2) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Rivne's coach Valeriy Zhartun felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Russian forward Elena Teteruk (182-85) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Viktoriya Babych (185-99, agency: BIG) added 14 points respectively for the guests. Rivne maintains seventh place with 6-14 record. Dynamo-NPU lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the third position with eight games lost. Rivne will meet league's second-placed Prometey in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dynamo-NPU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kyiv Kyiv Basket.
