Very expected game when 12th ranked Bayreuth (6-13) was defeated at home by fifth ranked EWE Baskets (15-4) 91-82 on Sunday. EWE Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American Keith Hornsby (192-92, college: LSU) fired 25 points for the winners. His fellow American import point guard Phil Pressey (180-91, college: Missouri) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. EWE Baskets' coach Mladen Drijencic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lithuanian Osvaldas Olisevicius (200-93) produced 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and American center Derek Pardon (203-96, college: Northwestern) added 20 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. EWE Baskets moved-up to fourth place. Bayreuth lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Goettingen. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
