Regular Season Round 23: Mykolaiv - Zaporizhye 84-93

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Zaporizhye (15-8) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Mykolaiv (3-18) 93-84 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-19. But Mykolaiv won second period 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zaporizhye shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Josh Fortune (196-94, college: Colorado) who led the winners and scored 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: LBSU, agency: Players Group) accounted for 10 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for the winning side. Fortune is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. American forward Nathan Adrian (206-95, college: WVU, agency: Inception Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and Canadian-Nigerian guard Keith Omoerah (194-92, college: Manitoba, agency: BIG) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for Mykolaiv in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mykolaiv's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Zaporizhye. They moved-up to third place. Mykolaiv lost their seventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost.
