Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Balkan 2 (6-11) lost to third ranked Hebar (15-2) in Pazardzhik 104-110 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Hebar dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Balkan 2's 40. They outrebounded Balkan 2 48-35 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hebar looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hebar made 9 blocks. Balkan 2 was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Atanas Anguelov (186-98) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Georgi Kenderov (200-99) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winners. Five Hebar players scored in double figures. Hebar's coach Atanas Anguelov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Iliyan Pishtikov (191-4) answered with 43 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (was perfect 19-for-19 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Mihail Gavazov (195-4) added 28 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Balkan 2. Hebar moved-up to second place, which they share with Lokomotiv 2020. Newly promoted Balkan 2 keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Hebar will face Enigma Fireworks (#5) in Sofia in the next round. Balkan 2 will play at home against NSA (#4) and hope to win that game.
