Very important is a road loss of third ranked Kagitspor (11-7) against sixteenth ranked Istanbul (2-17) on Saturday night. Visiting Kagitspor was defeated by Istanbul in a tough game in Istanbul 85-89. They made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Istanbul forced 19 Kagitspor turnovers. Kagitspor was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for guard Daishon Knight (185-91, college: Illinois St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Forward James White (204-93, college: Georgia Tech) helped adding 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Five Istanbul players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Keshun Sherrill (175-94, college: Augusta) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and center Horace Spencer (206-97, college: Auburn) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Istanbul maintains sixteenth place with 2-17 record. Kagitspor at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Konyaspor. Istanbul will play against higher ranked Balikesir (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kagitspor will play against Duzce Belediye and hopes to get back on the winning track.
