Regular Season Round 20: BAC - Bakken 77-114
Date: February 24, 2021
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Aarhus: Bakken (#1) and BAC (#3). BAC was smashed at home by 37 points 77-114 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BAC. The game without a history. Bakken led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to BAC's 40. Bakken forced 26 BAC turnovers and outrebounded them 44-26 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by American point guard QJ Peterson (183-94, college: VMI) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: SDSU, agency: Slash Sports) supported him with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Four Bakken players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 13 points, 6 rebounds and 13 assists by point guard Marius Kirkholt (183-97) did not help to save the game for BAC. Forward Magnus Jespersen (197-97, college: Everett CC) added 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the hosts. BAC's coach Thomas Hemmingsen gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Bakken (20-2) have an impressive 18-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. BAC at the other side keeps the third place with 13 games lost. Bakken will meet Randers (#4) on the road in the next round. BAC will play against the league's leader Vaerlose and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
