Thirteenth-ranked Phoenix Hagen (5-13) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (12-4). MLP Academics Heidelberg managed to secure only one-point victory 85-84. However their fans expected much easier game. MLP Academics Heidelberg made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Phoenix Hagen turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American Shyron Ely (194-87, college: Evansville, agency: Slash Sports) who led the winners and scored 17 points. Point guard Niklas Wuerzner (196-94) accounted for 11 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Joel-Sadu Aminu (193-97) came up with 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and American Jermaine Bishop (185-97, college: Norfolk St.) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Phoenix Hagen in the defeat. Four Phoenix Hagen players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. MLP Academics Heidelberg have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Phoenix Hagen at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg's next round opponent will be Ehingen/Urspringschule (#14) in Allmendingen which should be an easy win for them. Phoenix Hagen will play at home against the league's second-placed Rostock and hope to win that game.
