Regular Season Round 23: Tofas - Galatasaray 98-89

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Tofas (13-9) won against 12th ranked Galatasaray (7-15) in Bursa 98-89 on Saturday. Tofas looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Trinidad and Tobago-American Devaughn Akoon-Purcell (196-93, college: Illinois St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 4 assists. International point guard Berk Ugurlu (192-96) contributed with 6 points and 14 assists for the winners. American guard Pierre Jackson (180-91, college: Baylor) answered with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import forward Amile Jefferson (206-93, college: Duke) added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Galatasaray. Five Galatasaray players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tofas. They maintain fourth place with 13-9 record, which they share with Turk Telekom. Galatasaray lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Tofas will face bottom-ranked OGM Orman (#16) in Ankara in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Galatasaray's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Dacka.
