Regular Season Round 23: Art.Dragons - Bayer Giants 69-77

The game between third ranked Artland Dragons (12-8) and seventh ranked Bayer Giants (11-9) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Artland Dragons were defeated by Bayer Giants in a tough game in Quakenbrueck 69-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Artland Dragons. Bayer Giants forced 20 Artland Dragons turnovers. Strangely Artland Dragons outrebounded Bayer Giants 47-29 including 34 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American Grant Dressler (201-97, college: Chaminade) who scored 25 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Center Eddy Edigin (201-95) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Bayer Giants' coach Hansi Gnad used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Gerel Simmons (188-93, college: LMU) produced 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and center Robert Oehle (209-88) added 11 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. Bayer Giants maintains seventh place with 11-9 record. Artland Dragons at the other side dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. Bayer Giants are looking forward to face Lions (#9) in Karlsruhe in the next round. Artland Dragons will play at home against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#8) and are hoping to win this game.
