Regular Season Round 28: Polytechnic - MBC-Niko 2 102-79

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kharkov. Second ranked host Polytechnic (19-1) smashed one of their biggest challengers MBC-Niko 2 (14-9) 102-79. The game was mostly controlled by Polytechnic. MBC-Niko 2 managed to win fourth quarter 29-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Polytechnic shot 25 for 35 from the free-throw line, while MBC-Niko 2 only scored one point from the stripe. They outrebounded MBC-Niko 2 48-28 including a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Cam Gregory (203-95, college: Loyola, MD, agency: BIG) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Point guard Sergey Startsev (190-97, agency: BIG) chipped in 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Polytechnic players scored in double figures. Guard Bogdan Lukian (183-99) produced 15 points and 7 assists and guard Vladislav Orzul (192-1) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Polytechnic have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-1 record having just 2 victories less than leader Krivbas. Loser MBC-Niko 2 keeps the third place with nine games lost. Polytechnic will meet Prometey-2 (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. MBC-Niko 2 will play against Mariupol (#6) and hope to secure a win.
