Regular Season Round 26: Ternopil-TNEU - Zaporizhye 86-79

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Ternopil-TNEU (17-9) defeated at home 5th ranked Zaporizhye (15-10) 86-79 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Zaporizhye won third quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American players dominated the game. Point guard Adrian Bowie (189-89, college: Maryland, agency: BIG) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 4 assists. Guard Omar Calhoun (198-93, college: UConn, agency: Players Group) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Five Ternopil-TNEU players scored in double figures. Point guard Mike Caffey (183-93, college: LBSU, agency: Players Group) replied with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Josh Fortune (196-94, college: Colorado) added 18 points and 4 assists in the effort for Zaporizhye. Zaporizhye's coach Valeriy Plehanov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ternopil-TNEU have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Ternopil-TNEU maintains second position with 17-9 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Kyiv Basket. Loser Zaporizhye keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. Ternopil-TNEU will face Prometey (#4) in Kamianske in the next round. Zaporizhye will play on the road against the league's leader Kyiv Basket and hope to win that game.
