Regular Season Round 27: Elazig - Canik Belediye 83-34

Rather predictable result when eleventh ranked Elazig (9-15) rolled over at home bottom-ranked Canik Belediye (1-23) 83-34 on Saturday. Elazig dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Canik Belediye's 18. They outrebounded Canik Belediye 43-26 including a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Elazig looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Canik Belediye's players. It was an exceptional evening for swingman Sugranur Sonmez (183-1) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international forward Gamze Takmaz (180-91) accounted for 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Elazig players scored in double figures. Dilan Calis (-94) came up with 8 points and 9 rebounds and Nazli Caliskan added 10 points respectively for Canik Belediye in the defeat. Canik Belediye's coach Mahmut Besir gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Elazig moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Kayseri. Canik Belediye lost their fifth game in a row. They stay dead last with 23 lost games. Elazig will meet higher ranked Botas (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Canik Belediye will play against Mersin (#7) and hope to win that game.
