Regular Season Round 22: Nevezis - Lietkabelis 76-67

There was an upset in Kedainiai where higher ranked Lietkabelis (15-7) was defeated by ninth ranked Nevezis (7-16) 76-67 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-67. Nevezis outrebounded Lietkabelis 41-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. Togolese-German center Ariel Hukporti (214-2) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Brazilian-Spanish point guard Rafael Luz (188-92, agency: Interperformances) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Nevezis' coach David Gale used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Forward Tadas Vaiciunas (200-99) produced 18 points (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!) and international forward Gytis Masiulis (206-98) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nevezis maintains ninth position with 7-16 record. Loser Lietkabelis keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Nevezis will face higher ranked Prienai CBet (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lietkabelis will play against Dzukija in Alytus and hope to win that game.
