Regular Season Round 31: Politekhn.Lvov - Rivne 71-76

Higher League top team - Rivne (20-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixth ranked Politekhn.Lvov (7-15) in Lviv 76-71. It looked good early as Politekhn.Lvov took a 14-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Rivne had a 24-8 second period charge getting the lead and Politekhn.Lvov was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-76. Rivne made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game, while Politekhn.Lvov only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded Politekhn.Lvov 40-21 including 26 on the defensive glass. Rivne players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a great evening for Nigerian-Russian center Aleksey Adediran (201-82, college: Binghamton, agency: BIG) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Yevgen Koroviyakov (197-88, agency: BIG) helped adding 13 points and 6 rebounds. Rivne's coach Mikhail Pereverziy allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side forward Vladyslav Zakharchuk (200-99) responded with 20 points and 5 rebounds and guard Nikola Polyulyak (192-90) scored 18 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Rivne. They maintain first place with 20-1 record. Politekhn.Lvov lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 15 games lost. Rivne will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Politekhn.Lvov will play again at home against the league's leader Rivne (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
