Fifteenth-ranked Nuernberg (2-17) made lots of trouble for seventh ranked Bayer Giants (13-9) in Leverkusen. Bayer Giants managed to secure only three-point victory 87-84. However their fans expected much easier game. Sheldon Eberhardt (196-95, college: Elon) notched 16 points to lead the effort and American Grant Dressler (201-97, college: Chaminade) supported him with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 16 points by center Jonathan Maier (211-92) did not help to save the game for Nuernberg. American guard Tra Holder (185-95, college: ASU, agency: Wasserman) added 17 points for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Bayer Giants have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Schwenningen. Nuernberg lost fifteenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Bayer Giants' next round opponent will be Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#8) on the road. Nuernberg will play against the league's leader Rostock (#1) and hope to win that game.
